SpotRacers is a game where you scan & collect real cars from the street and use them to race against your friends. Build your personal car collection, and customize each car to fit your play style and personality.
Yes. Currently you can add friends using friend codes. Once your friend request has been accepted when entering races where you are both in the same division you'll sometimes face off against each other. Likewise in Quick Races.
SpotRacers plan to add more multiplayer modes in the future, such as Head to Head - race against a chosen friend and Crews - form a team and take part in race seasons. Development was delayed on these features due to Amazon's decision to close the GameSpark backend service. SpotRacers are developing their own backend and resources have been prioritised to working on this.
There are currently 120 different in-game cars (SpotRacers) that need to match the 1000s of real world cars. The scanner is capable of identifying vehicles from the 1900s through to present day. That's a lot of vehicles! Many vehicles share similar looks and style and so they are matched to the SpotRacer with the closes resemblance. Understandably this doesn't always appear accurately.
The other reason is that care has to be taken around image, copy and trade mark rights. As the game grows, it is likely that more SpotRacers will be added to the game.
No! There is an in-game shop where you can purchase items which will help you progress your vehicles more quickly however this is not a requirement to progress through the game. Players are generously rewarded with items to progress through simply playing the game.
These are all items in the game which are awarded in various ways and can be used to upgrade your SpotRacers and purchase customisations.
Tools and parts are used to upgrade SpotRacers. Each upgrade requires a quantity of each. This varies based on its current level and star rating. Higher levels and star ratings require more of Each. SpotRacers can also be scrapped for parts.
Greens are used to purchase tools, parking spaces and cosmetic customisations for your SpotRacers via the in game shop. Greens can also be used to remove cooldowns.
In order to start collecting SpotRacers in the game you must use the spotter. The spotter is the games image recognition software. From within the game tap the camera icon. If prompted, allow SpotRacers access to your device camera.
Now find a vehicle in the real world and 'spot' it. Spotted vehicles cannot be traced back to a vehicle owner or location. The spotter only uses the brand, model and colour to identify vehicles. If the vehicle is recognised, it will be assigned to one of the 118 categories (or SpotRacers) in the game.
You can also build SpotRacers using parts. Each SpotRacer takes up one parking space. You can obtain additional parking spaces as you level up, or they can be purchased from the shop.
The spotter will not accept buses, tractors, caravans, trailers, military vehicles, motorcycles and mopeds.
When you start out in the game you'll have four spotter shots. If you spot a vehicle every day for five days you will unlock the fifth shot.
To keep the fifth shot you must continue to spot a vehicle at least once every day, otherwise you'll revert back to four.
That's where SpotRacers Fanbase comes in useful! If you're struggling to find a particular SpotRacer and not sure which real world vehicle you need to 'spot' in order to obtain it, we can help. We have created a database of known real world vehicles and their in game counter parts. Simply head over to the database section of this website and check out the database.
Yes! Please use the submission form from within the database. Once submitted it will be verified and entered in to the database.
Unfortunately whilst we would like to be able to scan every single submission to the database ourselves to verify each one, there are only two individuals updating the entries and we now have over 3000 entries.
Majority of the time the details found in the database will be accurate, however there may be the odd occasion where an entry is not correct. Please use the comments feature in the database to report errors.
Sometimes an entry may become outdated if the team at SpotRacers decide to tweak which real world vehicles are assigned to a SpotRacer. This is another reason why you may not be able to scan it. Again, please contact us if so.
