Unfortunately, the time has come for me to say goodbye.
You may have noticed that it has been a while since any updates to the website have been made. There are several reasons for this. Partly this is because I have simply not been playing SpotRacers, mostly down to a lack of free time. Truth be told, however, SpotRacers, whilst I still believe it is a true gem of a game, was never the same for me after the big re-balance, and I found myself playing less and less.
The other reason is purely financial. The revenue from adverts doesn’t even come close to covering the costs of hosting. As a result, the website will be taken offline from next month once the hosting expires.
I’ll always have a fondness for SpotRacers and the team behind the game. For the last 4+ years, SpotRacers has been a fairly decent-sized chunk of my life, not just playing the game but working on the website, the Facebook group, and the database. It came at a time when the world was coming out of what was, to be frank, a pretty shitty period thanks to COVID and lockdowns. The game was a great distraction.
I feel a great deal of pride in the fantastic community created for the players to gather and share their gameplay experiences. I would like to thank Søren for his complete openness and willingness to answer any questions. I’ve had many great conversations with him over the years. I hope that the SpotRacers Fanbase even only in a small way, helped the team and the game develop.
Although the website will be offline, the Facebook Group will remain open for as long as SpotRacers is still actively developed.
